What mobiVault does:

mobiVault full User Guide

Entering data:

When you need to type in character data some phones will need you to use an edit sub-menu. This is available using an Edit function or you may need to go via the Options/Menu function. Your input is limited to 16 characters. When you have finished, exit the sub-menu if used with OK. Accept the data with OK.

Conventions:

The Back function returns you to the previous menu. It can mean 'cancel' "no', 'I have read this', etc. OK can mean 'yes', 'accept this data', etc. To exit from the application go back to the first menu and select Exit.

New Master PW:

You can choose your own Master Password or a random password can be generated for you. If you choose your own password it can consist of case-sensitive letters, numbers, spaces and symbols. The longer and more varied it is the more secure your data. Bear in mind that hackers have long lists of likely passwords so be creative.

Once you have a password you can reach the data access menu.

Normal start-up:

Enter the Master Password and press OK. If you enter a password which is wrong 5 times all your data will be deleted. The count is not reset when you re-start the application. The count IS reset when you enter the correct password.

Finding data:

Find the name you want by scrolling through the list and pressing Select.

Empty records are shown as - or --. Scroll down if necessary to see all the data.

Searching for data:

You will be able to specify one or more characters to produce a list of names beginning with these characters. On some phones the list will automatically appear after only one character. Other phones allow more characters and require OK to generate the list. Scroll through the list and select.

Adding data:

You will be guided through the steps to provide data for each field.

At the Save confirmation select OK to store the data.

The User and Comments fields can be empty. The Comments field can be used for an extension of the User Name where this is more than 16 characters - e.g. if an e-mail address is used, make the split at the @ sign. Responding with Back for any field discards all fields and returns to the data access menu.

Modifying data:

Use Find or Search to view the data associated with a service name. Select a name from the list and press Modify. Select one of the fields and edit it. Pressing OK updates the database.

You can also choose here to delete this data record.

Change Master PW:

Ask for a new random password or enter your chosen new one. You will have to wait a few moments for the database to be re-encrypted.

Timeouts:

The application will automatically exit if there has been no keypad dialogue with it for more than 5 minutes or if more than 15 minutes have passed since opening the application.

Security:

You may wish to make a paper copy of your password data and keep it in a safe place preferably under lock and key.

If your phone is lost or stolen, no-one will be able to decipher your data if you have chosen a good Master Password.

If you wish to delete the database enter a wrong Master Password 5 times. When creating or changing any type of password, make sure you cannot be observed.
