mobiVault is an application that resides on your mobile phone and takes on about 50k of memory in its native form. Using a unique set of encryption algorithms your data is securely stored whilst at the same time being easily accessible.
mobiVault makes you an integral part of the security system. By choosing a master password with care your data is safe to an unimaginable degree. The mobile phone has a large selection of special characters and, choosing from these, the numbers and upper and lower-case letters, means that an 8 character password can be chosen from 10,000,000,000,000,000,000 possibilities. Longer passwords mean more possibilities.
This is how it works: There is no copy of the password stored in the phone. When you enter it, it is converted via a special algorithm into a set of numbers: for every possible password there is a unique set. (Even for the same password, the numbers are different for every phone.) These numbers determine how our proprietary encryption algorithm encodes and decodes your data. All your data is stored in the phone protected in this way - uniquely scrambled for each possible password.
mobiVault?s security environment draws on the experience gained in implementing the Chip and PIN system for credit card authorisation. The encryption method uses a set of 8 keys, unique for each master password, and a dynamic permutation algorithm to provide a key space of 512 bits (the Data Encryption Standard uses 56 bits). For illustration, with a 16-character password, this would provide for a number of possible combinations more than 100 trillion times greater than for standard DES.
mobiVault scrambles groups of 64 characters at a time. By comparison, DES (Data Encryption Standard), uses 8 characters groups and has a maximum capability of approximately 70,000 trillion ways.
When you take a piece of data and encrypt it with a good algorithm, each text character is chopped up into pieces and mixed with pieces of the other characters: the bigger each group of characters this process is applied to the more obscure the result. In the mobiVault system, it is a function of the master password to determine how the mixing is done. For example, using just four numeric characters, there are 10,000 ways of doing this. Using 4 letters instead the number rises to 450,000. If you use a combination of numbers, upper and lower case letters and, say, 30 symbols, the number is over 71,000,000. Use 16 characters for the password instead of 4 and you have more than 20 million trillion trillion ways of scrambling the data.
mobiVault security is a partnership between you and your phone. You choose and remember your Master Password and this is used in a special way to encrypt and decrypt your confidential data. The password is not stored in the phone and so, even if the phone is lost or stolen and ends up in a laboratory with equipment to extract the phone's memory, there is no way, except by guessing your master password that your data can be discovered. Five incorrect attempts in total are possible (even if the phone is switched off in between) after which, all data is erased.
1. Choose your master password carefully, your master password is the key to all your data, make sure your master password cannot be guessed. Choose a random selection of, at the very least, 6 characters, preferably mixing letters, numbers and / or symbols. To make this easier to remember perhaps choose the first letters of a song or phrase that is significant to you with added numbers or symbols.
2. Avoid choosing passwords based on birthdays or names.
3. Keep your password confidential.
4. Passwords should be changed regularly.

5. If you enter your master password incorrectly 5 times all your data will be deleted. The count is not reset when you re-start the application. The count IS reset when you enter the correct password.
6. mobiVault is designed as a simple to use, portable and secure means to manage passwords and PIN's however' if you have essential or "can't live without" passwords, (perhaps your master password) you may wish to keep a separate list secure in a separate safe environment.
7. mobiVault is designed as a simple to use and secure means to manage passwords and PIN's and is positioned as a convenient means of managing multiple passwords however Code Card Devices Ltd accept no responsibility for lost passwords or systems accessed as a result of access to stored information and passwords.
